African Professionals of Australia Gala Ball 2021

African Professionals of Australia held it’s annual Gala Ball in Brisbane, Queensland on Saturday 27 November at Sky Room and Terrace, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition centre. This spectacular celebration showcased African-Australian professionals’ achievements in both Australia and Africa.

At this event, professionals and friends of APA had the opportunity to network with “Who is Who” in Australia’s Government, Non-government and Private sector such as Business Owners, Authors, scholars and Heads of school, CEOs, Directors of Agencies, Mayors, and Iconic Australians from the wider community. The event was filled with fantastic presentations, speeches, a variety of high energy and fabulous entertainment (Cultural and Contemporary), delicious cuisine.

The Gala significantly increased awareness and visibility of Australian professionals of African heritage and their contribution to the economic growth of Australia and Africa. Our long term focus is to establish a system that will connect investment projects with both public and private sector to create opportunities for our members while fostering inclusive development of both Australia and Africa economies.

The President of APA-Queensland Mr. Robert Mukombozi emphasised the urgent need for African professionals, Business owners, international students, educators, and communities to gain insight and apply expert knowledge and skills if they are to manage prevailing disruptions, achieve positive influence and become adept global citizens.

APA is the largest diverse African organisation in Australia offering various personal and professional development programs, scholarships, and leadership training, mentoring, and workplace experience programs to hundreds of people annually. Its’ membership comes from more than 50 African countries including Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, Somalia, South Africa, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria Mauritania, Gambia, Seychelles, Chad, South Sudan. 30 different professions including Accountants, Medical doctors, Nurses, Human Resource Managers, IT, Engineers, Geologists, Business Development Managers, Lawyers, and Teachers, Welfare officers, Community workers, Scientists, and Business owners represent APA’s current membership.
