African Professionals of Australia (APA)-Queensland partnered with Access Community Services Ltd to host the Nelson Mandela Day celebration 2020. The event was held on Saturday 18 July at Queensland Multicultural Centre in Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, Queensland.
This event brought together the community and friends of APA to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy and reflect on how everyone can be part of a global movement, taking his life’s work into a new era and changing our world for the better.
The celebration was filled with music, dance, international cuisine, and live entertainment. It was a great platform for professionals, international students, researchers, industries, Governments, policymakers, and other stakeholders to learn about Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy. It was attended by more than 200 participants from diverse backgrounds.
The APA –Queensland President, Mr. Robert Mukombozi, and his team donated proceeds from this wonderful celebration to support the Australian Red Cross’ Bushfire Recovery Efforts & other emergencies and Disability Economic Empowerment work in South Africa through Disability Economic Empowerment Trust (SA).
