The professionals are from across Africa, including representatives from Botswana, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. They are in Australia as part of their Mental Health Care in a Public Health Context study. It is 6-week course through Australia Awards, where participants will spend 3 weeks in Brisbane followed by 3 weeks in South Africa in partnership with Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town. Throughout the course, participants will be engaged in conversations about current best practice for mental health within their home contexts, visiting local mental health services, networking with other health professionals, and developing tailored mental health programs to be implemented within their roles and organisations at the end of the course.
