About APA QLD
The APA Queensland Chapter is entering an exciting new phase.
The Chapter is currently rebranding and refreshing its direction to better connect with, support and create value for APA members and the wider Queensland community.
An interim committee is being formed to guide this transition, strengthen the Chapter’s foundations and shape its future priorities. During this period, the committee will focus on rebuilding member engagement, developing meaningful professional and community initiatives, and preparing the Chapter for its next stage of leadership and growth.

Who leads APA QLD
Elizabeth A Akande
QLD Interim Chapter President
Elizabeth A Akande is a communications, stakeholder engagement and community development professional with nearly two decades of experience across Nigeria and Australia. She is the Interim President of African Professionals of Australia (APA) – Queensland Chapter, where she leads initiatives that strengthen professional networks, collaboration and opportunities for African professionals across Queensland.
Her career spans government, community engagement, multicultural affairs, strategic communications and disaster response. She has worked closely with government agencies, health services, community organisations and diverse stakeholders to deliver community-focused initiatives and facilitate effective engagement across multicultural communities.
A strategic communicator and community leader, Elizabeth is passionate about empowering African professionals, strengthening community representation and creating pathways for greater participation and leadership. She brings a strong understanding of both community and institutional environments, with a particular focus on building partnerships that create meaningful and lasting impact.
